RCS begins Principal search
Many of you know that RCS has started the search for a new principal. Mr James VanZyl came to RCS last year as an interim principal and has agreed to serve one more year. Walk, Rock & Roll Prayer Rally
NEEDED: Walkers, Rockers, Bikers, and Pray-ers!

RCS and Self-Help Jobs Program are co-sponsoring a prayer rally. You are invited to join us on June 12 from 9 am to 4 pm. Our goal is to raise more than $25,000 for these organizations while praying to God. Just get your friends and relatives to pledge an amount for each lap or hour that you will participate. The Pledge Form is available on the web. For more information, a color Brochure is also available.

We Exceeded 125 Acts of Kindness!

RCS students, parents and staff performed 176 Acts of Kindness as one way to celebrate our 125th Anniversary. The number was supposed to be 125, but AOK fever caused the number to swell. Here is a summary of the kinds of things that were done to impact nonschool people in a big way!


Acts of Kindness Performed by RCS Students
At Home
· Did extra chores around the home without being asked
At School
· Cleaned up around the school and raked leaves on campus
· Shared snacks with students that did not have one
· Helped classmates with homework
· Took time to cheer up students who were sad
· Helped to organize play time for students before school
· Read books to pre-school students
· Assisted with the distribution of school fund-raisers
· Helped students who were being bullied
At Church
· Volunteered
In the Community
· Donated items – toys, clothes, food
· Picked up trash in their neighborhood
· Gave money to homeless people on the street
· Assisted in planting a community garden
· Visited a nursing home and gave out cookies and candy
· Gave a “Get Well” card to someone who had an injury
· Helped a nursing home resident with their laundry and a senior citizen with their groceries
· Served food at a soup kitchen
· Made “Get Well” cards
For the World
· Performed extra chores to raise money to buy Christmas gifts for the poor in Asia and Africa
Acts of Kindness Performed by RCS Parents or Staff
· Volunteered at the school
· Gave co-workers car rides
· Brought lunch to share with classroom aides
· Cleaned the staff lounge
· Volunteered at food pantries
· Donated items (money, clothing, food)
· Helped elderly persons shop for groceries
· Distributed clothes and shoes to less fortunate
· Donated hair to “Locks of Love” for cancer victims
· Helped homeless persons
· Assisted the physically handicapped with errands
